Back to the Beginning

In the course of my reading through the Old Testament this year, today brought me back to the first chapter of Mark. I've been teaching through the gospel of Mark for the last couple months on Sunday night, and will wrap up the last two chapters this weekend. So, when today found me back at the beginning, I was amazed all over again. Jesus declares his intent early, and then we watch the unfolding of exactly what these words mean throughout Mark.

The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel. (Mark 1:15)

He's declaring that God has come to earth, to dwell and serve amongst his own creation, with the goal of redeeming it all, and receiving all the glory in doing so.

As Easter arrives next week, I pray many not only hear the good news, but repent and realize the truth of redemption.
