Gospel in a Nutshell
Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 03:33PM I'm sharing this tonight as part of my sermon...... yes, the gospel has much more to it, but I think this spells it out in a condensed fashion, but this is what I usually share with people from memory. I hope everyone grasps it tonight.
God created it all for his pleasure and for relationship. Humanity fractured that when Adam and Eve traded the glory of God for the glory of self. From that moment, everything has been broken. Disease, death, suffering, war, hatred, jealousy, all entered because of this fracture.
God choose a people to be his messengers to the world, passing over innumerable sins, and sending them the law, so they would over time realize they couldn’t do it on their own and would long for the Messiah
Jesus came to complete this law, bring hope, inspire followers that he was God in flesh, and then died taking our sins and being the justification of us all, proving God’s righteousness. We now wait and work.... longing for the day Jesus returns to redeem all creation.
